The Codatta Booster Campaign Returns — And We’re Going Deeper Than Ever
The Codatta Booster Campaign is officially back — and this time, the mission digs beneath the surface.
Launched on July 2, 2025, at 13:00 UTC, we’ve entered Week 2 of Season 1, and the challenge has evolved. It’s no longer just about identifying food.
This week, we’re asking you to help label food images based on cultural dietary preference — a critical step in building AI that understands not just what we eat, but why.
Why This Matters
Food is more than a list of ingredients. It’s memory, culture, and personal identity.
Yet today, most AI systems see food as little more than pixels on a plate. They miss the nuance — the traditions behind vegetarian cuisine, the cultural importance of a local meat specialty, or the thoughtful balance in a mixed dish.
At Codatta, our mission is different. We’re building a global, intelligent dataset that trains the next generation of AI to recognize food not just as data — but as a window into human behavior and cultural meaning.
By labeling food by dietary preference — vegetarian, non-vegetarian, or mixed — you’re teaching AI to understand the deeper stories our meals tell.
Week 2 Challenge: What’s New?
If you participated in Week 1, you helped us kickstart the campaign by uploading and annotating food images.
Now, in Week 2, the challenge levels up. Your task:
Label food images according to dietary classification.
The categories are simple but powerful:
- ✅ Vegetarian — No meat, poultry, or seafood.
- ✅ Non-Vegetarian — Contains meat or seafood.
- ✅ Mixed — A combination of both or unclear separation.
This level of annotation adds critical nuance to our dataset, helping improve the accuracy and inclusivity of AI models that rely on it.
And as always — the better your labeling, the more valuable your contribution.
